Be Seen for the Trauma Work You Actually Do

A vetted global directory that recognises your training, so the right clients and referrals can find you.

The Need for Better

A home for the depth this work deserves

You know the feeling. A client who needs more than you can offer right now, and no one safe to refer them to. Or watching "trauma-informed" become so diluted it tells you almost nothing about who's actually trained to do this work.

Or the quieter thing — the slow weight of seeing clients who aren't quite the right fit. The kind of mismatch nobody talks about until it's already costing you something.

The Trauma Directory was built around those frustrations. It exists so that trauma-trained clinicians can be found by people who genuinely need them — and so we all have a cleaner, more honest way to say what we actually do.

Integrative

For multimodal therapists. Online, in-person, or hybrid.

Targeted

Searchable by specialism, modality, and location. Clients contact you directly.

Vetted

Human-reviewed. Your verified tier badge is on your profile.

Your fees, your clients, your practice. No commission, no referral cut.

Recognition for Real Training

Three tiers of expertise

Every clinician is vetted and placed at the highest tier they consistently meet across all four domains — training, experience, complexity, and supervision. Not just training alone.

Trauma-Informed

Trauma-Informed

Strong foundations and safety-led work. Stabilisation and practical tools.

  • Training12–24+ hours of trauma-related education, including neurobiology and nervous system regulation
  • Experience1–4 years of clinical practice with trauma clients; actively building depth
  • ComplexityRecognises red flags and prioritises safety; paces work appropriately for trauma clients
  • SupervisionEngages in clinical supervision or consultation on trauma cases
Trauma-Advanced

Trauma-Advanced

Deeper training and at least one depth modality. Suited for CPTSD-type work.

  • Training50+ hours including formal certification in one evidence-based modality (EMDR, IFS, Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy) — or 5+ years of depth training with 50+ documented hours
  • Experience5+ years with a significant trauma-focused caseload — or accreditation in one modality
  • ComplexityWorks confidently with complex trauma, attachment disruptions, and somatic presentations under trauma-focused supervision
  • SupervisionOngoing trauma-specific supervision (typically monthly) and peer consultation
Trauma-Specialist

Trauma-Specialist

Primary focus on complex trauma and dissociation with multi-modal depth practice.

  • Training100+ hours of advanced training across multiple modalities with demonstrated depth and competence
  • Experience10+ years with a predominantly trauma-focused caseload including PTSD, dissociative, attachment, and developmental trauma — or accreditation in two modalities
  • ComplexityRoutinely treats high-complexity and dissociative clients; expert management of safety, pacing, and relational ruptures
  • SupervisionEngages in or provides advanced trauma-specialist supervision, consultation, or teaching

Placement is at the highest tier you consistently meet across all four domains. Read the full vetting guide →

The full vetting criteria are at traumadirectory.org/vetting-guide. Questions

Let's clear it up

If something isn't covered here, email us at info@traumadirectory.org

How does the application process work?

Submit your credentials for internal review — it takes around 10 minutes and your information is never shown publicly. Once approved (usually within 48 working hours), you'll receive a separate link to create your login, pay the one-off listing fee via Stripe, and complete your public profile. Allow up to 24 hours after submission for your profile to go live.

Can I offer online, in-person, or a mix of both?

Yes. You choose. You can specify online, in-person, or hybrid on your profile. There are no restrictions on service delivery format.

Do I charge my clients directly, or does the directory handle payments?

You charge your clients directly, in whatever way you normally would. The directory has no involvement in your billing, invoicing, or client payments. Clients contact you through your profile and everything from there is between you and them.

Can I set my own session fee?

Yes, entirely. Your rates are yours to set and change at any time. The directory does not cap, recommend, or take any percentage of what you charge.

What does it cost to list, and how do I pay?

The listing fee is USD $75, paid as a one-off via Stripe at the profile creation stage (Step 2). No subscription, no monthly fee, no commission on referrals or sessions. We are currently running an early bird promotion — the first 100 clinicians to join list for USD $20. Spots are limited and won't last.

Do I need to be licensed to join?

Licensing requirements vary widely by country, so we do not require a licence as a universal condition. What we do require is active standing with a recognised professional body or regulatory authority, appropriate qualifications for the work you are doing, and evidence of clinical supervision. If you are unsure whether your credentials meet the threshold, apply and we will review it with you.

How do I know which tier I belong in?

Tier placement is based on four domains: training, clinical experience, ability to work with complexity, and supervision. You indicate your experience during the application and we review it against our criteria. You can self-assess using the Therapist Vetting Guide.

Where can I find out more about training?

The full vetting guide is at traumadirectory.org/vetting-guide. For specialist training in DID, OSDD, and complex dissociative presentations, undertrained.org offers clinician-facing courses, group supervision, and clinical frameworks. Training through Undertrained is recognised in our vetting process.

Will I need to renew my listing?

Your listing does not expire, but profiles are re-verified every 24 months. We contact you when due — there is no additional fee for re-verification. Your profile will show a "Verified as of [year]" badge. Any significant change in credentials or supervision status may prompt an earlier check.

What ongoing standards do therapists need to meet?

All members are expected to maintain ethical practice, comply with local regulations, and engage in regular supervision. We recommend at least 12 hours of trauma-specific CPD within each 24-month cycle.
